How to Stand Out From the Crowd: Part 2

branding

If you really want to stand out from the crowd you have to be memorable. I don’t mean insanely famous, I mean memorable to me.

Do I Know You?

If you want to build a business relationship with me you need to make sure that I know who you are, what you can do for me and what your talents are. You also need to remind me (more than once!) where I met you and who we have in common.

If you don’t do that, chances are I won’t remember you and I’ll just delete your emails and your attempts at striking up a conversation.

Brand Yourself On My Brain

One of the easiest ways to imprint yourself on my brain is to be consistent in your branding – and to have a strong brand in the first place. Make sure your logo easily identifies you and that the colors and text stand out.

If you’re swapping business cards with me, make sure yours has your photo on it, so that when I look at it in a couple of weeks I’ll make the connection between the face and the name.

And if you’re writing me an email or three, for goodness sake figure out how to identify yourself correctly in the From field. And while you’re at it, remind me in the email how I know you.

One Response to How to Stand Out From the Crowd: Part 2

  1. Hmm…Glad I told you where I met you when I left a comment on Part 4. Yes, I listened to that one before #1.

I usually remind someone of the connection so it’s nice to know I’m getting one thing right, at least. 🙂 It was Earn1Kaday, by the way.
